92Y-Upper East Side

special olympics swim manhattan

You can now train for the Special Olympics Swim Team in Manhattan at the 92Y. The Flying Dolphins Team was created specifically for teens and young adults. Generally, the team trains for events by working on certain skills such as freestyle and backstroke. Being that some swimmers may not be as capable, there are also fundamental events for less advanced swimmers. For this reason, the Special Olympics ensures that opportunities are available for all abilities.

Training to participate in competitions around New York is an exciting way to get in shape while also making new friends.

Likewise, The Y also offers other aquatics, fitness, and dance classes to children with special needs. During Private coaching sessions, students can also be trained in a Fitness Program. The program, Let’s Get Movin’ is geared specifically for those with Autism.

However, the program can be adapted by the instructional coaches to teens with differing abilities besides autism. For the purpose of being inclusive to all the Y is continually increasing its offerings to the Special Needs NYC Community. Therefore, you might call to inquire about new or other existing options available. Accordingly, everyone that I’ve encountered at Manhattan 92Y has always been friendly. From the Special Olympics Swim Coach to the Phone Operator they are ready to help YOU.

Moreover, there are three elevators in the building giving all access to individuals in wheelchairs. What are you waiting for? Let’s do this.

Please allow me to introduce you to The SNACK* Center located in Midtown. This exceptional Special Needs Program in Midtown has it ALL. For instance, the Center has various classes in Art, Music, Swimming, Fitness, and Yoga. In general, you would be running around town to take these lessons. Am I right? That’s not the case here. Everything is conveniently located under one roof. This means more time having fun with your peeps rather than commuting place to place. YES, Finally, someone gets me!

With inclusivity in mind, Snack also has a Social Club for those Fly Adults that are 21 and up. Originally SNACK* was geared toward children with Autism. However, the center quickly expanded to be an umbrella type of Special Needs Program for Midtown. New York City Children’s Theater-Midtown

theater accommodations

From time to time it’s fun going to a Family Theater performance with the people you love most. Did you know that the New York Children’s Theater offers a sensory-friendly performance for ALL of their main stage productions? Let me repeat that last part again, sensory-friendly performance for ALL of the main stage productions. No way. Yes, way. Isn’t that fantastic? At the same time, they even have Autism Specialists on-site ready to provide supports if needed during the show. In other words, if you need help they are there for you.

Also no need to worry if you or someone else in the family needs to take a break. Conveniently, patrons are allowed to come and go during the performance with no problem. Just wait until you hear this part. As you know, generally speaking, it’s a must to be quiet in the theater right? Not here, my friend. Instead, New York City Children’s Family Theater states noise, and talking are permitted. Perhaps I read their website all wrong? It almost seems too good to be true. Something tells me you better see for yourself! Enter stage left down below.
