Hello, I believe I hear a cute little tutu calling your name? The NYC Ballet has Access to Ballet Workshops for people with disabilities. Something tells me you can do a fabulous “pirouette”. Pronounced peer-ohh-wet that’s the classical ballet term meaning spin. Did you know there is such a thing as a supported pirouette? You know we in the Special Needs community love our supports and that’s exactly what it is. A partner helps steady you during a turn and it can be done slowly instead of a normal quick pirouette. Perhaps “balloon” is more your speed ? which means to bounce. As can be seen on their website, The NYC Ballet also offers varying Adaptive Dance Classes for those with Autism or Physical Disabilities.
One thing is for certain, whatever your skill level an NYCB professional dancer will be there to help you along the way. The Access Ballet Workshops are a way for you to mingle with live NYC ballerinas. Learn more French and Italian terms like the ones I have mentioned here. And most importantly experience the beauty of an artistic expression that has been around for centuries.
Leap on over to their website to learn more. By the way at the present time, these classes are FREE! So give it a Go. Your siblings can even participate with you. Rather call to find out more details? Here is the number David H. Koch Theater Call Center at 212-496-0600 Tuesday – Saturday, 12 – 7 PM.
